The World Exhibition in 2000 was the first to put the event under a theme: “Humankind – Nature – Technology” - as a contribution to the communication age. Scenographers from around the world were engaged in developing contents.

After years of pre-planning, nine subjects and two themes were selected to be realized in a thematic area. The entire theme park with an order volume of 250 million DM covered five exhibition halls.

Holtmann, at that time already pre-qualified as a single company, initiated the “BIEGE”, a joint bidding consortium with 14 companies, specialized in construction and crafts, which later on continued its activity as a successful association with Claus Holtmann as CEO and technical director.

The theme park was to become the heart of the world exhibition in Hanover.
